Puberty, Take 2

"Ms. Wolf, what happened to your face? Around your mouth there?" ~ First grader
"One second Peige, let me finish talking to Larissa." ~Me (I always hope when I don't want to talk about something that putting them off for a minute will make them forget about it...luckily in this case it worked).

I can remember back when I was 12 and I began to "change into a woman." The embarrassment I felt at the changes my body was going through, and the wonderful pimples that began to appear on my face. It was sure a relief when I got out of that stage, and the horrible break outs (although not all the pimples...yay, stress) stopped.

Little did I know, that pregnancy would make my face break out like I was going through puberty again! I of course, understand why this is happening, but must admit at 27, it is sometimes hard to accept. Especially when a first grader feels it necessary to bring it to my attention (even though she didn't know any better). Here's to hoping that my pregnancy glow comes soon, and it isn't caused by a number of shiny pimples! :)

My body went right from adolescent to teen to adult acne without even taking a break. Pregnancy was actually a clear skin time for me. I'm backwards in just about every way possible!

First, congrats on your pregnancy!

Second, I found the opposite was true for my skin-- I had GREAT skin while I was carrying my daughter, then almost the moment she was born, BAM, the acne set in with a vengeance. So maybe your pimples will disappear once you deliver!

Aw, kids, huh?

When I was pregnant with my first, I was teaching 5th grade. I hadn't told my students yet, but when I was almost 3 month along, my waistline started to get a little bigger. I heard two of my girls whispering about it in the hall as we waited to used the restroom: "Don't you think Mrs. R is getting a little big? I mean, she's not fat, but she's just not as small as she used to be."

I almost died laughing.

And then, two weeks later, when I told them, I specifically went up to those two girls and said see, I wasn't getting fat, just pregnant! They were mortified that I had heard them.

I remember that "glow"...which is what they call it to make us feel better, I think. I didn't feel very "glowing"...just bloated, hungry, constipated and sleep deprived. Yeah, that sounds about right :) Here is to hoping your "glow" doesn't give you too much trouble!

Happy Monday SITStah!
