Am I a Worry Wort?

That is the question I have been asking myself lately. Do I worry too much? Or do I just have so much going on in my life that I can't help but have something to worry about? How do I stop worrying? How do I go back to just enjoying life for what is has to offer and not worrying about everything that is happening around me?

I'm a worrier too. Actually, I now take medicine for OCD, and some of my worrying has faded away! And acupuncture helps a bunch too!

How do you stop worrying about it?

Hmmm.... try this out. Grab a pen and paper.

Write down everything that has gone right in your life. Think about the blessings that you have, what makes you happy from the smallest to the greatest thing in your life. Focus on that and start counting those blessings.

There's always room for worry, but we have to make room for appreciation. Life needs to be enjoyed, don't you think?

the question that a good student affairs person would ask you is...

well why are you worrying?

do you think that by worrying you will be able to control the outcome? perhaps it's a need to try to control, to have order, to see the outcome before it happens.

do you worry because you think that if you worry aobut something, then it wont happen? if that's the case, then it's your caretaker personality coming out wanting to make sure that life is perfect for you and officer b.

i've come to learn (yaaaay counseling) that when i figure out why exactly i'm worrying about a,b,c,d....z then i am able to stop more often. if it's because i'm trying to control things...well, i just dont have that power so what's the point in worrying. if it's because i want everything to be happy and beautiful for my family....that's just not realistic and i'm going to ahve to trust that things will be okay if things go wrong.

i understand the feeling though...sucks.
